Auburn Players present Beauty & The Beast

The Auburn Players Community Theatre begins its forty-ninth season with a youth theatre production of Disney’s Beauty and Beast, Jr. The enchanted musical takes the stage on September 18 and 19 at 8 p.m. and Sunday, September 20 at 2 p.m. at the Irene Bisgrove Theater at Cayuga Community College. The Auburn Players Youth Theatre began 7 years ago to provide opportunities for young performers to develop their skills. During the rehearsal period the basics of singing, acting and movement are taught to the cast. Past youth theatre productions have included The Enchanted Sleeping Beauty, The Prince that Wouldn’t Talk, Oz, The Floating Princess, Seussical, and Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. With over seventy local children and teens, this musical version of Beauty and Beast is a shortened version of the Broadway musical, based on the original Disney movie. This production includes such favorite songs as Belle, Be Our Guest, Gaston, and Beauty and the Beast.The energetic young cast comes from all over Cayuga and Onondaga counties and represents over 17 schools The cast, ages five years old to 18 years old, features: Jessica Fraher as Belle, Alejandro Circelli as the Beast, Joe Prue as Lumiere, Brad Lasagna as Gaston, Joe Wood as LaFou, Lauren Maltese as Cogsworth, Nancy Hunt as Mrs. Potts, Joey McNabb as Chip, Sarah DelFavero as Madame La Grande Bouche, Zach Driscoll as Maurice, Taylor Flurchutz as Babette, and several students taking on multiple roles: Brenna Baron, Rachel Barron, Lillian Boberg, Rachel Bodner, Melissa Bowers, Sidney Chaffee, Reed Chronis, Natalie Church, Kim Cieri, Elizabeth Coll, Jack Corey, Ashley Cornelius, Aimee DelFavero, Michelle DelFavero, Conor Driscoll, Rose Fennessy, Cat Ficarra, Bailey Filier, Lexie Flurschutz, Maggie Flurschutz, Marki Flurschutz, Lauren Guinnip, Sam Jelinek, Olivia Johnson, Dan Koziol, Jenna LaMontagne, Gabriella Lentini, Emily Mahoney, Bethany McCormack, Jacob McNabb, Alyshia Nemo, Jenna Nila, Paul Noga, Joe Orman, Jesika Perkins, and Adam PouporeDirector Elisa Carabajal Hunt was joined by Sara Fraher as Vocal Director, Ed Beck as Assistant Director, Erin Wilson as Choreographer, and Lorriane Fraher as Production Stage Manager.The Auburn Players 49th season will include this production of Beauty and The Beast, Jr., as well as, The Importance of Being Earnest (November 2009), Holiday Show (December 2009), Romero & Miss Julie (February 2010), Holmes and Watson (April 2010), and Hello Dolly (June 2010).Tickets for Disney’s BEAUTY AND THE BEAST, Jr. are $12 for General Admission, $10.00 for Senior/Student, and $7 for Children under age 12.
