Sheriff makes arrest in Port Byron shooting

Sheriff David Gould reports that the Cayuga County Sheriff’s Office has arrested one person in connection with a shooting which occurred at 703 Spring Lake Rd. in the Town of Conquest at approximately 12:45am this date.PalmerCharged was:Glenn E. Palmer age 42 of 711 Howell Rd. Port Byron, N.Y. – Reckless Endangerment in the first degree (felony) – Criminal Possession of a Weapon third degree (felony) – Assault in the third degree (misdemeanor) – Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree (misdemeanor)Palmer was arrested following an investigation which determined he had fired a single round ( deer slug )from a 20 gage shotgun through the bedroom wall of a residence striking one of the occupants, Richard Wall age 50, in the lower leg while he slept. Wall was treated at Auburn Memorial Hospital and released. The shooting is believed to be the result of a month long disagreement between the two. Palmer was arrested at his Howell Rd. residence at approximately 5:00am. He was arraigned in the Town of Conquest Court and remanded to the Cayuga County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. Further charges may be filed.
