On August 30th, 2009 at approx. 9:19 AM Seneca Falls Police conducted a traffic stop on Ovid Street in the Village of Seneca Falls. Upon further investigation it was shown that the driver Angel Martinez-Lopez, age 23 is an illegal immigrant from Guatemala. A further check showed Martinez-Lopez had an active warrant out of the Bureau of Immigration and Customs Enforcement “ICE” for failing to appear for removal or exclusion from the United States in 2007. The United States Customs and Border Patrol Office in Oswego NY was contacted and a detainer was faxed to our office to secure Martinez-Lopez until they were able to arrive. Martinez-Lopez was detained at the Seneca Falls Police Department and later turned over to Border Patrol for deportation back to Guatemala.
