Teen arrested w/ 13 bags of pot in Seneca Falls

On July 9th 2009 at approx. 3:39 AM Seneca Falls Police arrested an eighteen year old Seneca Falls youth for Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree; Obstructing Governmental Administration in the second degree; Unlawful possession of Alcohol under the age of twenty one; Village Violation of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container; and Unlawful Possession of Marijuana. On the above date at approx. 3:35 AM a Seneca Falls Officer observed a male youth picking a street stop sign off of the roadway at the intersection of Walnut Street and Fall Street. When the Officer went to approach the subject the youth fled on foot down Walnut Street toward Water Street. A foot pursuit ensued and during the pursuit the youth threw down a 2 liter soda bottle later found to contain an alcoholic beverage. After a short foot pursuit the youth was apprehended on the community center property located at 35 Water Street. Once in custody the youth was found to be in possession of thirteen individually wrappedbags of marijuana. Further investigation showed that the stop sign had been broken off at its base. The youth was arraigned in the Seneca Falls Town Court in front of Judge Mahoney and committed to the S.C.C.F. on $2,000 cash or $4,000 Ins. Bond. The youth is to re-appear on July 22nd at 9:00 AM to answer the above charges. The youths name is being withheld due to the fact that he is eligible for youthful offender status.
