10 employees retire from Geneva City Schools

Ten employees of the Geneva City School District have retired after many years of service to local schools.John Corcoran retired June 30 as director of counseling and guidance counselor at Geneva High School after decades of helping students make decisions about college and their lives after high school. Corcoran’s career as a teacher and guidance counselor spanned more than 30 years.Veteran Geneva High School teachers Wesley Kubacki and Joseph Urban also retired June 30, the end of the 2008-2009 school year. Kubacki taught Mathematics and Urban was a Social Studies teacher.Carol Wilson retired on June 30 as coordinator of family services at the school district’s Head Start program. Wilson, a former hospital social worker, served the district for nearly 20 years.Dave Whitcomb has retired as the school district’s athletic director, but will continue his duties as Geneva High School football coach. Also retiring from the school district were: Roseann Moffe as a Special Education teacher. Cindy DeVaney as a Food Service Helper and School Monitor at West Street and North Street elementary schools. Ada Burgos as a Library Aide at Geneva Middle School. Joann Principio as a Cook at West Street School. Martha “Candee” Trickler as Office Specialist at North Street School. The district’s summer school is scheduled to run from July 8 to Aug. 11 at North Street School. Classes for the 2009-2010 school year are to begin for students on Sept. 8.
