More info on Friday fire in Waterloo

On Friday, June 26th, 2009 at about 11:40 AM the Waterloo Police Department, along with the Waterloo Fire Department, Seneca Falls Fire Department, Border City Fire Department and Fayette Fire Department responded to 28 1/2 Wycliffe Road in the Village of Waterloo for a reported house fire. Prior to emergency services arrival on scene, the sole occupant and owner, Lillian M. Akin (age 77) of both 28 and 28 1/2 Wycliffe Road was evacuated from the house without sustaining any injures. The two other occupants, Sandra R. Haines (age 59) and Terry D. Akin (age 44) who reside at 28 and 28 1/2 Wycliffe Road were not home at the time of the fire. Due to the intense heat from the fire, a residence located at 22 Barham Avenue was also damaged. The owner of 22 Barham Avenue, Brenda A. Felice (age 62) was not home at the time of the fire. Also assisting on scene was North Seneca Ambulance, Seneca County Fire Coordination Office, Seneca County Code Enforcement, the Seneca County Fire Investigation Team, Waterloo Village DPW, NYSEG, Time Warner Cable and the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office. The cause of the fire is still under investigation at this time and the victims of the fire were aided by American Red Cross who also responded to the scene.
