Man breaks into Seneca Falls Town Court Office

Seneca Falls Police arrested Julio Oritz, age 58, no permanent address on July 11th, 2009 at about 5:06pm for Burglary in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Mischief in the 4th Degree and Petit Larceny. The arrest stems from an investigation into a burglary at the Seneca Falls Town Court which is located at the former St. John Boscoe School at 81 W. Bayard Street that was discovered at 7:40am that morning. Ortiz allegedly entered the building around midnight and then broke an interior window allowing him to open the Court Clerks office door. While inside Ortiz stole $23.00 from an envelope he located within the office. Police spent a majority of the day at the Town Offices causing the Court to close for the day and other Town Offices to close for the morning hours. A town employee who was assisting police in securing video footage of the building observed a person matching the description depicted in the video walking on E. Main Street in Waterloo and notified police who responded and notified the Waterloo Police Department for assistance. North Seneca Ambulance was called to the scene to tend to Mr. Ortiz’ wounds he suffered from breaking the window. Ortiz was arraigned in Junius Town Court by the Hon. Brian Laird and was sent to the Seneca County Correction Facility without bail. He is to reappear in Court on Tuesday, June 16th at 7pm.
