Third-graders at Watkins Glen Elementary School will test their understanding of key math and science concepts as they attempt to row their full-size cardboard boats across the High School pool at 1:45 p.m. Friday.The regatta is part of a math and science unit on buoyancy, displacement, capacity and measurement, according to a news release. Students worked in teams to design and construct boats.During the regatta, students will attempt to row these boats across the pool, competing for best boat design and best time. The event is similar to the regatta held each year in Seneca Lake by Watkins Glen Promotions.
