The Seneca County SPCA is looking for information on an injured dog found Friday evening (May 22) in the Town of Tyre.According to Jenny McWhorter, SPCA President, the dog, a female adult pit bull, was found near the camping area below the Armitage Road Bridges shortly after 9:40 pm.“The dog was running at large with a gaping wound on its throat,” McWhorter said. “It was reported to be fearful and possibly aggressive.”Campers were unable to approach the dog and called Seneca County 911, which contacted the SPCA for assistance.SPCA volunteers responded to the area and were able to catch the dog. “It was very dark at the location but with flashlights we could see she had a serious laceration on her throat and neck area,” McWhorter said. “The wound was infected and the dog had a large area of black mark on her entire neck.”The SPCA took the dog to their emergency veterinarian for treatment. It will be several weeks before the wound is healed, McWhorter said. “We’re calling the dog “Bridgette” after the area she was found,” McWhorter said. “This dog is very sweet and was grateful for help. She appears to be traumatized but is resting comfortably now.””Bridgette” is described as a 40-pound female Pit Bull, white with brown brindle patches. The SPCA is attempting to find her owner and also gain information about the nature of her injury.Witnesses in the area reported that the dog was seen the day before with a young man in his early twenties.
