At 03:17 am on Tuesday morning the Schuyler County 911 Center received a 911 call for a possible structure fire at at 3265 State Route 228 in the Town of Hector. They in turn dispatched the Odessa Fire Department to that location. Firefighters arrived and encountered a fire in a single wide mobile home structure with an addition. Firefighters were able to contain the fire to the ceiling of the kitchen and an adjoining office space of the home. Damage is estimated to be approximately $10,000.00 The two occupants of the home escaped safely. Odessa was assisted by the Mecklenburg, Montour Falls, Burdett and Newfield Fire Departments. Schuyler Ambulance also assisted at the scene. The Schuyler County Fire Investigation team assisted the Odessa Fire Department with the fire investigation. The cause of the fire was determined to be furnace malfunction.
