Man hits, injures teen family member in Waterloo

On Tuesday, 02-17-2009 at 11:23 P.M. the Waterloo Village Police Department arrested Mitchell E. Sikes, age 45, of 104 E. Main St., Waterloo, N.Y. on charges of Harassment 2nd. degree and Endangering the welfare of a child 2nd. degree. The incident stems from a domestic violence report that occurred this date at about 4:30 P.M. Mr. Sikes allegedly struck a 14 yr. old family member several times with his hand which resulted in the child receiving medical attention at Geneva General Hospital. The child was treated and released from the hospital this date with a mild concussion. Other family members were present in the residence when the incident occurred. Sikes was arraigned in the Village of Waterloo Court, Judge Mattoon, and was ROR’D. Sikes is to appear back in Village Court on 04-01-09 to answer the charges. Judge Mattoon issued a “stay away” order of protection and a “refrain from” order of protection regarding the victim and other family members.
