In honor of Ithaca’s recent winter snows and Groundhog Day, CNC offers free admission for the whole family Monday, February 2nd through Sunday, February 8th. Dress in winter gear since we have many outdoor activities including sledding [sleds provided by CNC], cross-country skiing, and 5 miles of snowy trails. CNC rents low-cost snowshoes for on and off-site use. Lodge is open with cozy fire in the Great Room and many educational displays, including our live animal collection. Chances are good that you will see squirrels and a variety of birds feeding in our courtyard, deer in the front lawn, and a flock of as many as thirty wild turkeys who pass through at least twice each day. Lodge is open all day Monday in honor of Groundhog Day. Normal weekly hours are Tuesday-Sunday 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Trails and TreeTops, our six-story tree house, open dawn to dusk 365 days a year. CNC will host Winter Camp for children [5-12 years old] during the week of February 16-20, 2009. Information: 273-6260.Whether or not the groundhog predicts six more weeks of winter, the nature center is offering an opportunity to get out and enjoy nature at its winter best!
