With 34 participating wineries offering a wide variety of chocolate-themed dishes, paired expertly with fine local wine, this year’s Chocolate & Wine Weekend the weekend of February 6 – 8 on the Seneca Lake Wine Trail promises to be one of the best ever.Seneca Lake Wine Trail Executive director Paul Thomas elaborates “This event, like most of our events, is focused not just on wine, but wine when it is paired with food. As some people already know, when wine is capably paired with appropriate food, the synergy is much greater than the sum of the parts. A Cabarnet, for example, may taste great by itself, but when paired with, say, Chocolate Chili- the dish being served by Fulkerson Winery- the flavors of each pop even brighter. And while flowers, stuffed animals, boxes of chocolates and other stock gifts are adequate when celebrating Valentine’s Day, time spent together between loved ones creates beloved memories that can last a lifetime.”For the first time ever, the Chocolate & Wine Weekend is scheduled to take place Friday February 6 from 1 pm – 5 pm and Saturday and Sunday from 10 am – 5 pm, making the event a better value than ever, and helping enable attendees to responsibly enjoy all the many participating wineries without having to rush from one winery to the next.
