The Seneca Lake Wine Trail is excited to bring back their once popular Pasta and Wine Weekend, featuring almost 30 different pasta dishes all using pasta from Barilla, one of western New York’s newest manufacturing facilities, January 16 – 18, 2009.Explains Paul Thomas, Seneca Lake Wine Trail executive director, “Our Pasta and Wine Weekend was, for years, quite popular. But then meat/protein diet plans suddenly became wildly popular, we watched attendance at the event dwindle markedly, and we opted to pull the event from our roster. Now that those fad diets have faded in popularity we’ve decided to bring the event back. It was a complete coincidence that right when we were discussing resurrecting the event, Barilla Pasta built a massive manufacturing facility in the region! We are very excited to be partnering with Barilla, one of the largest new employers in Western New York State and a company dedicated to quality products.”Like most of the Trail’s weekend wine and food pairing events, attendees can look forward to enjoying a wide variety of delicious pasta-themed dishes at each participating winery throughout the weekend, carefully paired with a superb Finger Lakes wine. The event runs Friday from 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and then Saturday and Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Ticket holders are welcome to enjoy all three days of the event or merely one day as their schedule permits.Below is a brief list of some of the innovative dishes that will be effectively paired with wine throughout the two and a half day weekend event:White Springs Winery – Pasta & Bean SoupFox Run Vineyards – Barilla Fusili Bucati Corti Pasta with Chicken, Peppers, Onions, Sun-dried Tomatoes and Pepadew Cheddar Cheese SauceSeneca Shore Wine Cellars – Magical Pasta e Fagioli (Fazool)Glenora Wine Cellars – Pomodora Sauce and Pesto Cream Sauce over pastaAtwater Estate Vineyards – Chicken-Orecchiette Soup with Cilantro and LemonStony Lonesome Wine Cellars – Penne with Basil Pesto Cream Sauce and MushroomsPrejean Winery – Shrimp with Pasta & Garlic SauceMiles Wine Cellars – Chardonnay Chicken SoupStandard tickets cost $25 and can be purchased in advance by calling the offices of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail at 877-536-2717, or online at http://www.senecalakewine.com.
