DeSales names interim principal

Scott Redding has been named interim principal of DeSales High School by the Board of Trustees following the resignation of Martin Cox, who is taking another position in Allegany County. Redding has been a member of the DeSales faculty for 10 years, having served as a science teacher, dean of discipline and most recently as vice principal. His appointment is effective Jan. 5, 2009.”Scott has demonstrated through his tireless commitment to DeSales over the past 10 years that he is an advocate for the students and well respected by the faculty and the entire DeSales community,” said Samuel Casella, president of the DeSales board of trustees. “He is the natural choice to lead us through this transition period and we are very confident in his ability.”Said Redding: “I’m looking forward to this responsibility with great excitement. The opportunity to continue advancing DeSales in a positive direction is a challenge I embrace and look forward to with great anticipation. Having been part of the DeSales family for almost 10 years has given me unique insight, which I will share with the faculty and the Board of Trustees. Collaboratively, we can reach our strategic goals and achieve a very successful future for the school.”Cox will assume a mid-year opening as Superintendent of Schools/K-4 Principal in the Fillmore Central School District, Allegany County, New York. “My time here at DeSales has given me memories I will cherish for a lifetime,’ Cox said. “DeSales is not just a high school, but, rather, a family. The community of students. teachers, staff, parents and alumni shared their gifts with me on a daily basis. I am excited to have the opportunity to lead Fillmore as the new superintendent and am confident that DeSales will continue to move forward in a positive direction under the leadership of Scott Redding.”For more information about DeSales High School, visit the school website at www.desaleshs.org
