Seneca Falls Police received a report of a NYS Corrections bus leaking fuel on State Route 414 (Ovid Street) at about 5:30 pm. The bus was stopped on Ovid Street near South Street and it was determined that the fuel tank was leaking. The bus had 27 NYS Division of Corrections inmates on board and was on its way to Auburn Correctional Facility. Additional transportation and Correction Officers were called to the scene from Auburn Correctional and Five Point Correctional Facility for transfer of inmates. Seneca Falls Police were assisted by officers from the Waterloo Police Department, Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and the New York State Police in the safe and secure transfer of the inmates. Ovid Street was closed for a short period of time during the transfer. Seneca Falls Fire Department also assisted in the fuel clean up. The disabled bus was towed from the scene.
