Fred Gaffney to remain at Seneca Chamber – FingerLakes1.com Archive

The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Executive Director Fred Gaffney will remain with the organization. It was announced in September that Gaffney would be transitioning out of the Chamber to pursue other interests and the search for his replacement was underway. The Board is strong in its belief that he remains the person best suited for the position.During the past two years that Gaffney has been with the Chamber, the organization has strengthened its role in representing the business community through increased outreach and advocacy. Through a service agreement with Seneca County, the Chamber became the Tourism Promotion Agency last November. The organization is looking to pursue additional opportunities to increase value to members and serve the greater business community. With a slogan, “Connecting Business, Connecting Communities,” the Chamber’s leadership is looking to build from its position through additional interaction with business and community leaders.“Fred has been very successful in building relationships and representing the Chamber,” says Don Gentilcore, Board Chair. “With his continued leadership, we can maintain momentum on our current initiatives and explore new opportunities that Fred has expressed an interest in.” According to Gentilcore, the day to day responsibilities of the tourism program will continue to be transitioned to other Chamber staff, allowing the organization to serve its members and tourism partners while providing the Executive Director time to pursue new projects. “The comments from so many members and others, asking me to remain with the Chamber have been overwhelming and heartfelt,” says Gaffney. “In working with a committed and cohesive Board, I am proud to continue to represent the business interests of Seneca County and excited about the opportunities for our growth and prosperity.” The Chamber will celebrate its accomplishments from the past year, outline some of its initiatives for the year ahead, and recognize two outstanding individuals and a business at its Annual Dinner Meeting on Friday, January 23, 2009 at the Holiday Inn, Waterloo.
