Biofuel expert to speak in Schuyler

The Annual Meeting of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Schuyler County Association, scheduled for Thursday, December 11, 7:15-9 a.m., will feature Dr. Larry Walker, Professor in the Department of Biological and Environmental Engineering at Cornell University and a national leader in biofuels and industrial biotechnology. Dr. Walker, who is the Director of the Northeast Sun Grant Institute of Excellence, will speak on “The Evolving Biofuels Industry.” Dr. Walker has been involved in a number of biomass to energy projects while at Cornell, including an assessment of NYS biomass resources available for ethanol production, farm-scale methane production and cogeneration, and the application of nanotechnology to discover and study important biocatalysts for biofuels and and industrial biotechnology.The Annual Meeting is open to the public and will include a full breakfast, short business meeting with election of members to the Board of Directors, and a silent auction to benefit Hidden Valley 4-H Camp and other important CCE programs.
