Seneca County Sheriff’s Office announces that they will be conducting “Operation Safe Halloween” again this year. It marks the fourth year of the program. “Operation Safe Halloween” is a pro-active program where Sheriff’s Deputies and Investigators will make unannounced visits, on Halloween night, to registered sex offenders that fall under the Sheriff’s Office watch. Sex offenders that report to the Sheriff’s Office as part of their requirements under the State Sex Offender Act will be visited on Halloween night during “trick or treat” hours to verify their address. It is a crime for a sex offender to change his or her residence without notifying the appropriate Law Enforcement agency, being the Sheriff’s office or local Police, if within the villages of Waterloo and Seneca Falls, within 10 days of the move. Marked Sheriff Patrols will be making frequent pass bys other known sex offender’s homes through out the County. Anyone wanting to report a possible violation regarding a sex offender move can call The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 315-220-3240, their information will be referred to the proper agency, if the sex offender does not report to the Sheriff’s OfficeThe Seneca County Sheriff’s Office is committed to the safety of our children and all residents and visitors to our County; together we can make a difference.
