Celebrating our area educators in October, WHCU, 97.3 announced today that Darlene Huff, South Seneca Middle School special education teacher is one of twelve “Apple for the Teacher” award winners! The Cayuga Radio Group was impressed with a letter that was written by a former student of Darlene’s (20 years ago), nominating her for this award. In the letter, the student mentioned how school was difficult for her, and Mrs. Huff was caring, persistent, believed in her and helped her not to give up. This student wants to help children just as Mrs. Huff is doing and has now completed her Bachelor’s Degree from Cortland State in Elementary Education. The student wanted to nominate Darlene to say ‘thank you’!Darlene will receive a special “Apple For the Teacher Award” at an upcoming awards banquet. A grand prize will be drawn from the twelve deserving recipients. If Darlene is chosen for the grand prize, a computer and printer will be awarded to our school and a laptop will be awarded to the teacher!
