Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, that Sheriff’s Deputies responded to 3017 Owasco Drive in the Town of Waterloo for a structure fire. The Border City Fire Department responded to the scene with mutual aid from Waterloo and Geneva Fire Departments. Sheriff’s Deputies report that upon their arrival heavy smoke was coming out of the structure. The fire was quickly extinguished by fire personnel. The cause of the fire is still being investigated but is believed to have started from a tanning bed located in the basement of the home. The home, owned by Robert L. Bates, sustained heavy smoke and water damage and was insured. A firefighter sustained a minor injury to the hand and was treated at the scene by North Seneca Ambulance personnel. The investigation is still continuing.
