SCP To Present “A Party To Murder”

Just in time for Halloween, Seneca Community Players brings together a cast of veteran performers and newcomers for an entertaining murder mystery in the classic style of Agatha Christie. “A Party to Murder,” by Marcia Kash and Douglas E. Hughes, will be staged at 8 p.m., October 24 and 25, and at 2 on Sunday, October 26 in the Delavan Theatre on the New York Chiropractic College campus, Route 89. Co-directed by Kathy Hadley and Steve Mitchell, the show is produced locally by Rhonda Jasper.Six people have come in secret on Halloween to play a murder mystery game at a rustic cottage. Invited by writer Charles Prince, they appear set for a weekend of fun until ghosts from the past begin to haunt the proceedings and it becomes clear that all is not as it seems. The games take on a sinister dimension when guest begin to die and the remaining players realize that they are playing for their lives. Tension rises. Secret passageways, incriminating letters, hidden compartments, bodies in the window seat and a twenty five year-old unsolved mystery twist and turn toward the unexpected and terrifying conclusion.Treading the boards for this production are SCP favorites Pam Bryan and John King of Waterloo, and Liz Olmstead and Paul Wenderlich of Seneca Falls. Rounding out the cast, SCP welcomes two new faces: Denise Junker of Webster and Bob Fitzwater of Seneca Falls.Jason Parker serves as stage manager. Props are collected by Donna Russell, costumes are designed by Margo Schmidtgal, and Carol Millis is in charge of hair and make-up. Technical Director Becky Bly oversees Hadley and Mitchell as set designers, Anthony Pollino as master carpenter, Lynn Patti as scenic charge artist, Ralph Sinicropi as sound designer, and Mitchell as lighting designer.
