When Schuyler Hospital set their blood drive collection goal for 2007-98 with the American Red Cross, they hoped community members would generously give 69 pints of blood.Schuyler Hospital officials recently received word from the Red Cross that not only did the community meet the goal – they exceeded it by 236 percent! From September 1, 2007, through August 31, 2008, 163 pints of blood were collected through Hospital blood drives, outside donations designated for the Hospital (anyone donating blood at any location can name a designated site to receive credit for their donation), and an August drive with the Amish community in Ovid in August. “We are simply amazed at these results,” said Rick Stelzer, President and CEO for Schuyler Hospital. “These numbers further prove the dedication of area residents to their community and their community hospital.
