Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports, that Sheriff Deputies investigated a Combine fire at 2520 Bromka Road in the Town of Romulus. A 1976 John Deer 6600 Combine was inside a barn when owner Leo E. Culeszo age 59 of the same address was nearby welding. A short time later Culeszo noticed smoke coming from the engine compartment of the Combine. Culeszo was able to drive the machine out of the barn. Firefighters from Romulus and Ovid quickly had the fire under control within 10 minutes. The insured Combine is estimated to have about $10,000 in damage. The fire was ruled accidental and later determined to of been caused by a spark igniting some chaff that had been built up over time in the engine compartment.There were no injuries.
