Motorcyclist falls asleep at wheel in Ovid

Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reports that Sheriff Deputies responded toa personal injury motorcycle accident on State Route 89 at the Center Road in the Town of Ovid. A motorcycle being operated by 55 YO Nicholas L. Alvaro from Cicero was northbound when he fell asleep. He drifted of the eastside of the road and struck a ditch. He was ejected about 75 feet and landed in a grassy field. Ovid Fire and South Seneca Ambulance responded to the scene. Alvaro was treated at the scene for a minor leg injury and transported by South Seneca Ambulance to Geneva General Hospital. Alvaro was ticketed for Aggravated Unlicensed Operation 3rd for having a suspended license. The motorcycle was heavily damaged and had to be towed from the scene. Alvaro will have to appear in Ovid Town court on October 20th 2008 at 7 p.m. to answer the charge.
