Seneca Chamber Executive Director to move on

The Seneca County Chamber of Commerce announces with regret that Executive Director Fred Gaffney will be transitioning out of the Chamber to pursue other interests. Mr. Gaffney has offered to remain with the organization as long as possible to ensure a smooth transition. During Mr. Gaffney’s tenure, the Chamber strengthened its communication and interaction with members and community groups, increased its advocacy efforts on behalf of members and the greater business community, raised public awareness of the Chamber and its initiatives through a quarterly tabloid newsletter published in conjunction with the Finger Lakes Times, a redesigned website, and a core of volunteers who serve as Chamber ambassadors, and has strengthened its relationship with Seneca County by taking on the role of Seneca County’s tourism promotion agency and managing tourism for the County. The Chamber has initiated an immediate search for a new Executive Director.Chamber Board Chair Don Gentilcore remarked, “On behalf of the Board of Directors of the Seneca County Chamber of Commerce, I would like to commend Fred for his dedication, leadership and service to the business community of Seneca County during his tenure as Executive Director. We are very fortunate to have a wonderful team of staff and volunteers surrounding Fred and we anticipate that we will continue to provide our members and tourism partners with the high level of service they have come to expect from this organization during the transition period.” Moving forward, Chamber’s Board of Directors is excited about the opportunities to build upon a solid foundation to strengthen service to members, and Seneca County’s tourism industry, and to work with County and local governments and other economic development agencies to improve Seneca County’s economic climate.
