The Wayne County Historical Society’s Museum of Wayne County History will present it’s third exhibit of 2008, “The Lay of the Land: Wayne County Maps”. The exhibit opens on September 19 and runs till November 8. This exhibit will include the Wayne County Historical Society’s large collection of Wayne County maps and is sure to appeal to the cartographer in us all. Gillette’s Map of Wayne County, 1950’s topography maps, the Century Atlas and the 1874 Atlas are a few of the maps that will be on exhibit. Set up in the Visitor’s Center will be a computer complete with Google Earth, where visitor’s can zoom in on the Earth from space to find their town, street and even the house they live in.
