Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reports that Sheriff Deputies investigated an report of a structure fire at 2739 Thorpe Road in the Town of Seneca Falls shortly after 1100 a.m. When Deputies arrived there was no visable flame and the occupants stated that the fire was out. Home at the time were the residence Keith (age 40) & Skeeter White (age 34). There was a 15 gallon air compressor inside the residence running at the time when Keith noticed that there was smoke coming from the area of where the air compressor was. Keith pulled the compressor from the residence and a nearby stool that had caught fire and extinguished the two items with a garden hose. The residence suffered minor fire damage to one room and moderate smoke damage throughtout. Firefighters from Red Jacket responded to the scene to check for extentions. Keith suffered a minor burn to his right hand and was treated at the scene by E.M.S. from Red Jacket. The residence was owned by Charles Luffman and had no insurance. The damage is estimated to be less than $1,000. Code Enforcement was notifed and responded to the scene. The fire was deemed to be accidental and there were no other injuries reported.
