A Keuka Park woman was arrested after stabbing another woman during a downtown Penn Yan altercation early in the morning on June 7.Michelle Downs, 33, of 6 Birch St., Keuka Park, was charged on June 11 with assault second degree (Class D felony) after investigation of an incident that occurred outside of the Main Street restaurant on June 7 at approximately 1:15 a.m. It is alleged that while involved in an altercation she allegedly stabbed Kristina Jensen, 35, of Keuka Street in the neck with a knife.Downs left the scene shortly after the incident. A local resident flagged down a passing Penn Yan Police car and officers transported Jensen to Soldiers & Sailors Hospital for treatment. She was later airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital by Mercy Flight where she was admitted for treatment. Jensen was released on June 10, according to a June 11 report by Police Chief Gene Mitchell.During the investigation, police recovered the knife used in the attack. Downs is being held in the Yates County Jail. She was arraigned before Justice Dan Hibbard and committed to jail pending a preliminary hearing on $15,000/$30,000 bail.
