With over 290 different wines submitted for this unique, regional wine competition and and a record number of attendees, this year’s Golden Nose Award event in Watkins Glen was better than ever.Explained Paul Thomas, executive director of the Seneca Lake Wine Trail, “The Golden Nose Award: A Finger Lakes Wine Experience is a truly unique event, and wine competition in our region. Unlike competitions where professional judges are utilized, the Golden Nose employs everyday fans of wine to do all the judging. While various publications pay acute attention to professionally judged events, we continue to believe that what real people appreciate is what truly matters. And believe me, many of the best wines from this competition will be selling out in the not too distant future because regardless of the scores they earn in various national publications, real people really like these wines.”The following wines won prestigious Best of Class Awards:Sheldrake Point Vineyard – Summer WhiteLakewood Vineyards – RieslingGoose Watch Winery – ViognierGoose Watch Winery – Cabarnet SauvignonHickory Hollow Wine Cellars – Liquid WisdomSeneca Shore Wine Cellars – SherryRed Newt Cellars – Cabarnet Franc
