Finger Lakes on cover of NYS Tourism Guide

A Naples Valley vineyard, a lake, and a beautiful morning – the Finger Lakes are the first image visitors to New York State see when they pick up the state’s current travel guide. A customizable and downloadable version of the guide also features the region with a photograph of a Canandaigua Lake shoreline. The new brochures are a central element in New York’s re-launch of its iconic I♥NY campaign.Cynthia Kimble, president of the umbrella Finger Lakes Tourism Alliance (FLTA) attended the unveiling events in New York City Tuesday. There, she saw enhancements to the famous four-character slogan that highlight the state’s natural assets, such as grass, butterflies, climbers, and fishermen. The re-launch and a series of on-line and viral marketing campaigns are aimed at driving visitation up by 45 million people per year by 2020, according to Kimble.“It’s very exciting to have the Finger Lakes be the image on the current travel guide’s cover,” Kimble said, “but we are just as excited about the state’s new plans for tourism promotion. The new web site, the on-line advertising, viral marketing, and brand alliances – these all recognize that people are changing the way they choose destinations and plan travel, and we are pleased to be a central part of it.”While at the launch, Kimble met with many media outlets, such as the CBS Early Show, Time Out New York and Travel Weekly, to increase exposure to the region.
