Cub Scouts in Waterloo Pack 81 will pay tribute to our fallen soldiers this Sunday (May 18) during a ceremony in Lafayette Park. The public is invited.The ceremony will be preceded by the pack’s Arrow of Light ceremony at the Waterloo First Presbyterian Church on Main Street. Activities begin at 6 p.m. at the church and will move to Lafayette Park at about 7 p.m. During the ceremony at the park, the Scouts will recount the history of Memorial Day that began in this village in 1866, and read the names of local soldiers who gave their lives in defense of freedom. After the Cub Scouts lay a wreath at the soldiers’ monument facing Park Place, the ceremony will conclude with the playing of “Taps” by Scouts James Gantz and Patrick Sobus.About 30 boys in grades 1 through 5 will participate under the direction of Scoutmaster Joe Smith and Webelos II leader Andy Fegley Jr.
