“Woodie” Rally Coming To Waterloo

The 8th annual Waterloo Lions Club Memorial Day “Woodie” rally will be held May 23-26 during Celebrate Commemorate. This year’s event will honor the employees of Campbell Body Co. who built thousands of Mid-State Campbell and Hercules Campbell Woodies in Waterloo during the 1930s, ‘40s and 50s.A full program has been arranged to help Woodie owners enjoy the beautiful scenic Finger Lakes area and its many wineries and historical attractions. The program includes participation in the Celebrate parade followed by a Woodie show at the Terwilliger Museum at noon on Saturday, lunch at the Ginny Lee Café at Wagner Winery, Lodi, wine tours, sightseeing and pictures at Hector Falls. The Saturday evening banquet at Abigail’s Restaurant in Waterloo will be an opportunity to talk to other Woodie owners and the men who hand built the cars.On Sunday, Woodie owners will participate in the Wheels on Main Street car show beginning at 11 am and enjoy a casual dinner at Mac’s Drive In at 5 pm.All makes of Woodies are encouraged to attend and enjoy the opportunity to talk to some of the people who built these cars.
