Minor injuries in one-car southern Seneca crash

Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reports that Sheriff Deputies investigated a personal injury auto accident on State Route 89 in the Town of Covert just south of County Road 141. A car driven by Tu H. Tran age 19 of Genoa, NY was north bound on Sr 89 when he swerve to miss an animal in the roadway and struck a guard rail end. The car slid on top of the guardrail about 50 foot before leaving the roadway and slamming head on into a tree. A passenger in the car 50 YO Hung T. Tran also of Genoa was treated at the scene for minor injuries resulting from the safety restraint and air bag which deployed upon impact. Firefights from Interlaken and E.M.S personnel from South Seneca Ambulance responded and assisted at the scene. 50 YO Tran was transported to Cayuga Medical Center by South Seneca Ambulance for further treatment and was later released. The car was destroyed and had to be towed from the scene. No tickets were issued.
