Kolb says Thruway Authority out of touch w/ reality

The following is a statement released by Assemblyman Brian M. Kolb (R,C,I-Canandaigua/) concerning the Thruway toll hikes passed Friday by the NYS Thruway Authority.The decision today by the New York State Thruway Authority clearly shows just how out of touch they are with the economic challenges the people of this state are facing. It is ludicrous for them to expect that families can afford to pay even more just to travel this vital roadway.Today I join my Assembly Republican colleagues in renewing our call on Speaker Sheldon Silver and his Democratic Conference to move our legislation that would require the state Legislature, rather than the unelected members of the Thruway Authority, to authorize any toll increase. The decision to raise tolls should be made by the people’s representatives, not the unaccountable and faceless bureaucrats who sit on the board of the Thruway Authority.
