Seneca County Sheriff Jack Stenberg reports Deputies responded to a one-car personal injury motor vehicle accident on Route 96 in the Town of Fayette. A vehicle being operated by Brandon J. Beatty, 19, of 2421 SW Winteroak Court Lees Summit, Missouri, was southbound on Route 96 when Beatty is believed to have fallen asleep at the wheel. The vehicle left the roadway, overturned several times and came to rest after striking a utility pole. Backus suffered a minor leg injury, but refused medical attention with North Seneca Ambulance. The Waterloo Fire Department also responded to the scene. The vehicle was demolished and was towed from the scene. Backus was issued a ticket for Driving Across Hazardous Markings.
