Seneca County Sheriffs office reports, Deputies investigated a two vehicle personal injury accident in the Town of Waterloo. A vehicle driven by Brenda L. McCann age 44 of 5 Clark St. Waterloo, NY was southbound on St. Rt. 96. When a tractor trailer driven by Joel E. Brooks age 50 of 822 Penn Ave. Elmira NY was backing out onto St. Rt. 96 from Ninefoot Rd. McCann’s vehicle struck the rear axle of the tractor trailer. McCann was trapped inside the vehicle and had to be extricated by Border City and Junius Fire Departments. Waterloo Fire police were on scene for traffic control. McCann was treated by North Seneca Ambulance at the scene for an ankle fracture, multiple contusions and abrasions. She was flown by mercy flight to Upstate Hospital in Syracuse for her injuries where she is reported to be in stable condition. Brooks was issued a ticket for unsafe backing and is to appear in Waterloo Town Court on Feb. 26, 2008 to anwer to the charges. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
