The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports Deputies arrested Bert F. VanHouten III, 30, of 981 Yale Farm Road in Romulus, on charges of Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Criminal Mischief in the fourth degree, and Harassment in the second degree. The charges stem from a domestic incident at a Town of Varick residence where VanHouten allegedly grabbed a female victim’s hair and threw her to the ground in the presence of a seven year old child. VanHouten is also accused of damaging a vehicle in the amount of approximately $200.00 during the same incident. VanHouten was arraigned in the Varick Town Court and was released on his own recognizance. VanHouten is to reappear in the Varick Town Court on January 10th, 2008 at 7:30pm. A Class A Order of Protection was issued on behalf of the victim.
