Seneca County Sheriffs Deputies responded to a two-car/pedestrian personal injury motor vehicle accident on Routes 5 & 20 in the Town of Seneca Falls. A vehicle being operated by David J. Zona, 27, of 42 Stevenson Street in Seneca Falls, was west bound on Routes 5 & 20 and struck the rear end of a vehicle that was traveling in front of him. The second vehicle was being operated by Jill C. Cuffe, 57, of 27 Seneca Manor Drive in Seneca Falls. A passenger in the second vehicle, Timothy S. Cuffe, 61, also of 27 Seneca Manor Drive in Seneca Falls, was transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance with chest pains. After the initial collision, Zona’s vehicle lost control and struck a pedestrian that was walking near the roadway. The pedestrian, Shalon A. Knapton, 59, of 2162 Routes 5 and 20 in Seneca Falls, suffered a head injury and was transported to Geneva General Hospital by North Seneca Ambulance. The Seneca Falls and Waterloo Fire Departments also assisted at the scene. Zona was issued a ticket for Failed to Reduce Speed for Special Hazards.
