Geneva Voices of Experience 2007

Girls and young women from Ontario, Wayne, and Yates counties are invited to learn from the stories of professional female role models who reside in their own community at a Girls’ Initiative called Geneva Voices of Experience 2007 for girls ages 12-18. It will be held on Wednesday, October 17th at the Belhurst Castle, Route 14, Geneva, NY. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the program is scheduled from 7 – 9 p.m. A reception will follow where the girls can personally meet the panelists.• Mission: Economic self-sufficiency for girls and women• Girls need to know how to take care of themselves• Girls need positive role models for making healthy choices• To equip girls with self awareness, self confidence, and self esteem to make better life choicesHosted by the Girls’ Grant-making Initiative of the Women’s Foundation of Genesee Valley and the Ontario/Yates Fund for Women (ONYA), “Geneva Voices of Experience” is now in its fourth year. To date over 400 girls ages 12-18 have attended. Dillard, Professor of Plant Pathology and Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension, Geneva• Tonya Collins Lloyd, Owner, TLC Hair Care, Lyons• Jeannine Biehls, Field Director, Girl Scouts-Seven Lakes Geneva• Kristen Miranda of WHAM 13, Rochester, will be moderating this event.All monies raised from “Voices 2007” goes directly to grants for girls. Grants are chosen by the Girl’s Grant-making Committee of the Women’s Foundation. They evaluate proposals, do site visits, and recommend awards.
