Forest Field Days at FL National Forest

Looking for a fun and educational family day this fall? Look no further.The Finger Lakes National Forest, in conjunction with Seneca and Schuyler County Cooperative Extension Offices, Wagner Lumber, Gutchess Lumber, and the New York Forest Owner’s Association will be hosting Forest Field Days on Sunday, September 23rd from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.There will be horse drawn wagon rides, a guided woods walk, basics of orienteering, and an appearance by Smokey Bear. Kids can also participate in a scavenger hunt, make animal tracks castings, birdfeeders, dissect owl pellets, and try their hand a cross cut sawing.There will be several educational displays on wood and tree identification, forest pests, bears, logging, apples, maple syrup, ticks and rabies, poison ivy, and animal tracks.The event will be held at the Potomac Group Campground area, off Potomac Road in Hector, NY.
