As you are all aware the Grand Jury investigating the possible wrong doing within the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and other Seneca County public officials has returned indictments against former and current members of the Sheriff’s Office. First let us assure the residence of Seneca County that regardless of today’s proceedings, the men and women of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office will continue to serve the people of this county with the public’s safety at the forefront.The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office welcomes the completion of this investigation and looks forward to the legal process continuing and justice being served, so the men and women of the Seneca County Sheriff’s Office can begin working towards rebuilding the faith and trust of the public we all serve.The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office will begin the process of Departmental disciplinary procedures on the current Deputies indicted today. They have been immediately suspended with pay, pending the proper filing of Departmental charges and required hearing as pursuant to NYS civil service lawSheriff Connolly has designated Undersheriff Michael Cleere to be in charge of operations at the Sheriff’s Office while he is on leave.
