Cargill has signed on as Title Sponsor for The Falls Harvest Festival, kicking off its inaugural year on Saturday, October 6, 2007, Noon-9 p.m. along Main Street in Montour Falls. The festival, coordinated by the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce / Watkins Glen Promotions is also seeking farmers to showcase and sell their products as part of the event’s agricultural focus. The festival’s educational bent – hands-on activities and demonstrations celebrating the area’s agriculture and the autumn harvest – was a primary reason for Cargill’s sponsorship.”This event showcases our company vision ‘Nourishing Ideas. Nourishing People.’ We are excited to sponsor this event and appreciate the handwork from the coordinating committee. I encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities,” said Elizabeth Meeder, Plant Manager for Cargill in Watkins Glen.Cargill is an international provider of food, agricultural and risk management products and services. With 153,000 employees in 66 countries, the company is committed to using its knowledge and experience to collaborate with customers to help them succeed. In addition to a Farmer’s Market with hands-on, demonstrations, the family friendly, day-long event will include live entertainment, a Grape Stomping Contest, a Scarecrow contest, a historical Ghost Walk, storytellers, a Children’s Activity tent and more. For information or a vendor application for The Falls Harvest Festival, contact the Schuyler County Chamber of Commerce at (607) 535-4300 or email Events@schuylerny.com
