Traffic was backed up for a while this morning due to a structure fire at 1024 Waterloo-Geneva Rd. in Waterloo. The structure is an apartment complex owned by John M. Church Sr. of 4 Courtney Dr. Seneca Falls, NY 13148. The fire originated in the ceiling rafters. Border City Fire Department responded to the scene along with the Waterloo and Seneca Falls Fire Departments. They were able to quickly extinguish the fire. The fire was investigated by the Seneca County Fire Investigation team and ruled the cause of the fire to be electrical. The Red Cross responded to the scene to help with displaced tenants of the ten apartment complex. No injuries were reported. Only one apartment suffered damage estimated at approximately $20,000 and Church Sr. is fully insured.
