The Seneca County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a fatal motor vehicle accident that occurred at around 1:00 AM on East Lake Road in the Town of Fayette. A pick up truck was travelling south on East Lake Road when the vehicle left the west side of the roadway. The vehicle hit a tree stump and rolled–coming to rest in a field. The vehicle caught fire and was totally demolished. Border City Fire Department responded to the scene and extinguished the fire. The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene.The accident is still under investigation. The driver was the sole occupent of the vehicle. The driver’s name is currently not being released pending further investigation. That brings to 14 people have died in traffic accidents in the Rochester-Finger Lakes Region in just over a week.
