The Seneca County Board of Supervisors will devote the first hour of its June 12, 2007 meeting to receiving public comment on the proposed compromise of the Cayuga Indian Nation federal trust applications. The terms of the proposal were announced May 23. The Board meeting will begin at 7:00pm in the Board’s chambers in the County Office Building, 1 DiPronio Drive, Waterloo.Each citizen who wishes to speak at the meeting should come at least fifteen minutes early and fill out a form indicating their name, county and town of residence, and whether they wish to speak for or against the proposal. Each individual will be allowed to speak for a maximum of three (3) minutes. The order of speakers will be determined by the order they sign up.An Information Session for the boards of the Towns of Fayette, Seneca Falls and Varick, the Village of Seneca Falls, and the Seneca Falls School District will be held on Wednesday, June 6th, in the Seneca Falls Community Center, beginning at 7:00pm. The county’s land claim counsel, Brian Laudadio, Esq., will be present to explain the proposal and answer questions from board members. The public is invited, but only board members will be recognized to speak at this meeting.The Board of Supervisors also invites any citizen of Seneca County to submit written comment on the proposed settlement. Written comment should be received no later than June 20th by Margaret Li, Clerk of the Board, 1 DiPronio Drive, Waterloo, NY 13165. The Board anticipates voting on the proposed settlement at its June 26 meeting.
