Covert accident leads to handgun arrest

Seneca County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a two-car personal injury motor vehicle accident on Route 96 in the Town of Covert late Thursday evening. A vehicle being operated by Robert N. Dulin, 38, of 8300 Main Street Apt. 1 in Interlaken, was southbound on Route 96 when a vehicle being operated by Miriam B. Greensberger, 52, of 205 East 77th Street 4D in New York City, was entering the roadway from a parking lot. Greensberger failed to see Dulin’s vehicle and entered the roadway which caused the collision. Both vehicles came to rest in the ditch. Greensberger was uninjured in the collision. Dulin complained of a minor leg injury, but refused medical attention with Trumansburg Ambulance. The Trumansburg Fire Department also assisted at the scene. Greensberger was issued a uniform traffic ticket for Failed to Yield Right of Way Entering Roadway. Both vehicles suffered extensive damage and were towed from the scene. While investigating the accident, Deputies discovered Dulin was in possession of an illegal handgun. Dulin was charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the fourth degree as Dulin did not possess a New York State Pistol Permit. Dulin was arraigned in the Covert Town Court and was released on hiw own recognizance. Dulin is to reappear in the Covert Town Court on June 4th, 2007 at 3pm.
