Seneca Community Players will hold auditions for menand women of all ages to act in its newest stage production, “The Sound ofMusic,” the final collaborative effort of the famous Rodgers andHammerstein. When a postulant proves too high-spirited for the religiouslife, she is dispatched to serve as governess for the seven children of awidowed naval Captain. Her growing rapport with the youngsters, coupled withher generosity of spirit, gradually captures the heart of the stern Captain. Later on,they discover that Austria has been invaded by the Nazis who demand theCaptain’s immediate service in their navy. This show is said to provide one ofthe most thrilling and inspirational finales ever presented in theatre!Directed by SCP veteran Kimberly Brown (“Night Chills,” “Cinderella,” “AllDressed Up”), auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on May 14 and 15, withcallbacks on the 16th, at the Women’s Interfaith Institute located at 140Fall Street in Seneca Falls. Interested individuals should come prepared with16 bars of a Broadway-style song and be prepared to dance for some roles.Some music will also be available on site. Scripts will be provided for the actingportion of auditions.Participants should bring a list of potential rehearsal conflict dates. Arehearsal schedule will be announced at the auditions. These productionsprovide the opportunity for community members to engage in the creativeprocess on-stage, back stage and the design process. Over the past severalyears, those participants have represented Seneca, Cayuga, Ontario, Wayneand Monroe counties.
