Seneca Community Players has been honored with five Merit Awards by the Theatre Association of New York State for its current production of “Enchanted April.”The entire cast won “Outstanding Accomplishment in Ensemble Acting” and Pam Rapoza won “Outstanding Accomplishment in Acting” for her portrayal of Lotty Wilton. Outstanding Merit Awards are issued to theatrical productions of a superlative quality rarely witnessed or experienced by the adjudicator.Becky Bly won “Excellence in Directing, ” AErin Lanphear won “Excellence in Costuming,” and Bly and Lynn Patti won “Excellence in Set Design.” Merit Awards for Excellence are issued to the theatrical production considered by the adjudicator to be of exceptional merit surpassing the norm.The show was adjudicated by Ruth Legg on April 22. She said, “Seneca Community Players’ “Enchanted April” takes the audience on a romantic journey to Italy, where the lives of four women are transformed. The inspired performances by a talented cast make this a memorable event as they travel from dark, rainy London to a charming castle on a sun drenched hilltop. Love, laughter and flower bloom in abundance.”TANYS adjudicators give Merit Awards to recognize outstanding work by community and educational theatre companies, actors and technicians across New York State. Formal presentations of these awards will be held on November 17, during the TANYS Festival Awards Banquet at at the Queensbury Hotel in Glens Falls. The 2007 TANYS Festival will be November 16-18 at the Charles S. Woods Theatre in Glens Falls. “Enchanted April,” a heartwarming comedy about friendship, love and the rediscovery of life’s enchantments, continues its run at 8 p.m. April 27 and 28 in the Delavan Theater on the New York Chiropractic College campus, Route 89 in Seneca Falls.
