The New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) regional office announced today that an Open House meeting is scheduled for Tuesday April 10, 2007 to answer questions about a bridge repair project for the Route 5 & 20 Bridge across the Seneca Canal. The bridge crosses the border between the Town of Montezuma in Cayuga County and the Town of Tyre in Seneca County. The meeting will be held at 7:00 p.m. at the Montezuma Fire Department at 8115 High Street in Port Byron. The project is expected to begin soon after a contract is awarded in the early fall. The project will require intermittent closures of Route 5 & 20, and it is expected that these brief closures will take place during overnight hours. Traffic will be detoured along Route 90 to Route 31, from Route 31 to Route 89, and from Route 89 back to Route 5 & 20.
